Diplomacy and International relations

Sherif El Sebaie has a wide and deep network across the national and international sphere – cultivated in two decades of professional activity – ranging from politics to journalism, and from economics to culture.

In 2008 he was invited by the U.S Department of State to participate in the “International Visitor Leadership Program” (IVLP), during which high-level appointments were organized for him at the main federal and government agencies in Washington and other American cities.

The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program, designed to provide international leaders with carefully planned exchanges that reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.

Among those who have participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program are many current and former chiefs of state and heads of government such as Margaret Thatcher (1967), Tony Blair (1986), Gerhard Schröder (1981) and Nicolas Sarkozy (1986).

In 2017 Sherif El Sebaie was selected by the German Marshall Fund (GMF) for the prestigious “Marshall Memorial Fellowship” (MMF) which includes alumni such as French President Emmanuel Macron (2006), EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini (2007), Managing Director and World Bank Group CFO at the World Bank Bertrand Badre (1998) and Annie Maxwell, President of the Skoll Foundation (2007).

The GMF is one of the most important US think tanks based in Washington. Founded in 1972 through a gift from Germany as a tribute to the Marshall Plan, the GMF promotes mutual understanding and cooperation between North America and Europe on inter-Atlantic and global economic issues.
